C.R. MACKINTOSH ASSOCIATION
The course is based at Bélesta La Frontière, a mountain village half an hour inland from Perpignan, surrounded by stunning landscapes, picturesque villages and romantic Cathar castles – artistic stimulation, tranquility, good food and fun!
This is a structured course outdoors in a medium of your choice. To ensure maximum personal attention, the group was restricted to between 8 and 10 participants. We supply easels, chairs, drawing boards etc.
The Tutor Robert Kenny Smith, held the post of Primary School Adviser in art in the Scottish Borders. Then after thirteen years as a head teacher, he decided to pursue his original career as an artist. He now lives in the Pyrénées Orientales. See Robert's website: www.robertkennysmith.com.
For 8 years the course has been over a 6 day residential period with 5 days painting per week with a daily review of the work done.
This is now under review and we are proposing a non-residential course of one day per week over six weeks,. aimed at people living in the P.O with their own transport, in May/June and/or September/ October 2016. Dates are flexible. Anyone interested please contact Michelle Grau of Ginou Gonzalvez so that we can plan accordingly.
CHOICE OF SUBJECTS
Subjects will be chosen to provide variety of stimuli . Locations will all be within a half hour radius of the hotel. The daily choice of locations will depend on wind and weather but we try to keep within a half hour radius of Bélesta except for a one day visit to the coast at Collioure for an informal session with the two Scottish Residency artists who will show some of their work and discuss their ideas and techniques.
In 2014 the artists were George Donald RSA.RSW and Margarita Williams.
